Colorful Taste With Endless Flavours
Felipe Cabral
Did you know that the taste and colour of honey can vary depending on the type of blossom the nectar is harvested from?
Honey collected from clover flowers, for example, has a different flavour to honey collected from lavender flowers. Similarly, honey produced in Australia will have a different flavour to honey produced in the US. So next time you’re enjoying a spoonful of honey, why not think about all the different flavours and colours that are possible? And if you’re ever feeling adventurous, why not try a few different types of honey to see which is your favourite? These are some of our most popular flavours:
Avocado Honey doesn’t taste anything like the fruit, but is extracted from the California avocado blossoms. It is a dark colored honey with a rich and buttery flavour and makes for a tasty salad dressing or condiment when mixed with other ingredients.
Tamarisk blossom honey is a little darker in color and has a rich, caramel-like flavour. Tamarisk trees are native to arid regions of Central Asia and the honey has been used for centuries as both a food and medicine.
Apple blossom honey is one of the most popular types of blossom honey. Apple blossom honey has a light golden color and a pleasant and fresh aroma. It does have bold fruity notes and leaves a light apple aftertaste.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to the flavours of blossom honey! The type of flower the nectar is harvested from will determine the colour and flavour of the honey.
